Publisher’s high-quality, affordable textbooks now used by thousands of professors at more than 1,500 institutions across the U.S.

October 3, 2019 — FlatWorld, a digital-first publisher of award-winning college learning materials that are both affordable and high quality, today announced that it has seen a significant increase in textbook adoptions for the 2019–2020 academic year.

“As thousands of professors across the U.S. chose to adopt a FlatWorld textbook for the current school year, many told us just how easy it’s been for them to switch and how excited they are to have moved to a publisher that offers high-quality and affordable textbooks — without any strings attached,” said Alastair Adam, Co-CEO of FlatWorld. “At FlatWorld, we charge students one low price for the digital textbook and provide access to FlatWorld’s Homework system at no additional charge. We offer a full range of complementary instructor supplements to support our high-quality textbooks as well. There’s no need for students to pay for an ‘unlimited’ subscription plan to use the one textbook they need, or to spend an extra $100 for an access code simply to do their homework.”

FlatWorld has seen nearly 2,000 new faculty adoptions of its textbooks for the 2019–2020 academic year, which represents a year-over-year increase of more than 10% in the rate of new faculty adoptions. The publisher also saw an increase in the number of adoptions at universities where FlatWorld textbooks had previously not been used — students at hundreds of colleges or universities have the opportunity to take a class that uses a FlatWorld textbook for the first time this fall.

“In addition to FlatWorld’s quality and affordability, professors are responding positively to the breadth of learning materials we offer,” added Adam. “Very often, the FlatWorld textbook they’re switching to already feels familiar to a book they’ve previously used. When combined with our streamlined, intuitive platform and terrific support team there for them at every step, they tell us this made the transition incredibly smooth and straightforward. As we continue to expand our salesforce and our catalog, we’re confident that the rate at which professors are switching from legacy publishers to FlatWorld will further accelerate.”

FlatWorld’s catalog features over 135 titles across more than 20 academic subjects. FlatWorld’s textbooks cost between $24.95 and $39.95 for digital access, which includes FlatWorld Homework and instructor supplements. FlatWorld’s most popular titles for the 2019–2020 academic year include:
